About Meditation

Meditation is a simple tool that enables you to tap into feelings of stillness and calmness, even during the busiest day.

Meditation involves

  • Relaxing your body
  • Calming your mind

Meditation is also about:

  • Using your senses
  • Being the observer of your thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions

Tapping into your senses brings you into the wonder of the present moment. In this state, your mind and body are at rest and balanced.

Often you meditate without realising. This happens when you are totally focused on something you are doing. This might be gardening, feeling the breeze on your face when walking, creating a painting, or being caught up in music or dancing.

In class, the meditation focus may include the breath, sensations in the body, sounds, movement or visual objects. These are ways of providing space in your mind, away from the endless stream of thoughts, worries and plans that are inevitably linked with the past or the future.

When you meditate and allow your mind to become quiet and still, you often find the answers you have been seeking.
